We have a love for dogs and the Golden Retriever in particular and you will find us at dog shows, obedience trials, agility trials, tracking events, field trials, and hunt tests. We are constantly with our dogs, training them for something. We are always looking for another activity, because Goldens, like people, can get bored without something to keep them busy. They want something to do, most of all they want to please us.
Anyway, we try to keep them active and their minds occupied so they won't get into trouble. It's fun and challenging . . . we wouldn't have it any other way.
The Long Island Golden Retriever Club was founded in 1962 by a small group of Golden owners who trained their dogs and wanted to promote the accomplishments of their dogs in the field and the show ring. Since that time, our goal has been to promote one of America's favorite dog breeds.
